BERLIN: Germany's labor agency says the country's unemployment rate slipped to 7.0 percent in April thanks to a traditional springtime upturn.
The agency said Wednesday the unadjusted jobless rate was down from 7.2 percent in March.
It says a total of 2.96 million people were registered as unemployed in Europe's biggest economy — 65,000 fewer than in March, breaking the psychologically important barrier of 3 million.
On the year, the number of unemployed fell by 115,000 as strong domestic demands and steady exports keep Germany's economy growing.
