KATHMANDU: Tashi Ghale won the Pakistan Ambassador’s Cup golf tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Saturday.
Played under 3/4 stableford format, Ghale accumulated 39 points to capture the trophy. He also bagged the most birdies award with five birdies under his belt. Gopal Chitrakar (37) was second on count back, while Vivek SJB Rana bagged the best gross award with 32 points.
Nayan Bista won the women’s section award with 36 points, while Sandhya Rai came second with 31 points. Capt Suman Limbu was the winner in senior section with 37 points, ahead of Maj Man bahadur Limbu (33). Himalaya SJB Rana was the Octogenarian winner with nine points, whereas German Ambassador to Nepal Verena Grafin von Roedern came first on count back among the ambassadors.
Madhukar Yakthumba won the guest section award, while Maj Mani Prasad Rai came second on count back with 32 points. Other winners of the tournament included Neeraj SJB Rana (longest drive on Hole No 11), Capt Suman Limbu (closest to the pin on Hole No 12)m Brig Gen Mohan Bahadur Adhikari (best sportsmanship), Shahida Mumtaz (ladies putting competition) and Sharjeel (children putting competition).
A total of 68 players took part in the two-day tournament. Secretary at the Youth and Sports Ministry Sushil Ghimire, Charge D’ Affaires at Pakistani Embassy Asif Hussain Memon and RNGC President Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha gave away prizes to the winners.
