KATHMANDU: Golden Gate Club registered back-to-back victory with a 103-64 humbling of Nepal Army in the Morgan Cup 12th Men’s and 11th Women’s National Baketball Tournament here today.

Sushil Gurung – who had also scored 40 points against Golden Gate’s thumping 143-37 victory over Far-west on Monday — posted 45 points for yet another impressive show. Sushil slammed in nine three pointers.

Golden Gate opened with a huge 45-9 lead in the first quarter but Nepal Army avoided further slide scoring 19 points in the second period when Golden Gate could add only 10. Going into the second half with a 27-point lead, Golden Gate extended the lead further taking the third quarter 27-13. They scored another 21 in the final period when Nepal Army netted another 13 points in the final quarter.

In another lopsided men’s match, Premier Club hammered Far-west 130-36 where the former took control of the entire match after taking a 34-8 lead in the first quarter. Premier went into the last 20 minutes with a 44-point lead scoring 24 points in the second quarter and restricting Far-west to just six. The scores read 80-20 when Premier added another 36 in the third quarter when Far-west could only score six.

Far-west though managed to score 16 points in the final quarter, Premier kept on scoring at their will netting 36 points. Vinod Shrestha scored 16 points for Premier. In the only women’s section match of the day, Prime Sports Club defeated Kaski 33-19.

Prime took a six point lead (12-6) in the first quarter but displayed their dominance scoring 15 in the second period to that of three from Kaski. Kaski though prevailed over Prime in the final two quarters leading 8-6, 2-0, they were undone by the early damages.
