KATHMANDU: Golden Gate International College entered the semi-finals of the first Inter-school MSC Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. Golden Gate beat National Institute of Science and Technology 46-20 riding on 14 points from Ganesh Katuwal. In other matches, Kathmandu College of Medical Sciences defeated Segon 36-16 with 15 points from Mahesh Pant. Segon also lost to Tri Chandra College 10-5.

Sonu strikes gold

KATHMANDU: Sonu Thapa Magar and Krishna Thapa Magar of Neologian School struck U-16 gold medals in the fifth Valleywide Inter-school Table Tennis Championships here on Tuesday. In the girls’ final, Sonu defeated schoolmate Ruby Basukala 11-5, 11-5, 11-4, while Krishna edged his schoolmate Rabin Sandh 11-6, 11-7, 10-12, 6-11, 11-7. Dikshya Tamang of AVM defeated Priyanka Shakya of DAV 6-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-3 in the U-10 girls’ singles final and another AVM player Ritij Joshi beat schoolmate Raju Shrestha 11-5, 11-7, 11-6 in U-10 boys gold medal match. Meanwhile, Sujata Duwal of Prabhat and Eva Raut of Bijeshwori won the U-12 and U-14 girls’ singles titles respectively.
