KATHMANDU: Talks between the top leaders of the major political parties and those agitating for identity-based federalism, have been put off for a while.

The meeting which was convened at Special Committee's secretariat office, inside the Constituent Assembly (CA) on Monday morning to negotiate with the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) to call off their nation-wide strike, has been postponed till 3 pm, sources confirmed.

In the first-phase of talks, four major political parties—the UCPN-Maoist, the Nepali Congress (NC), the CPN-UML, and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) appealed NEFIN to call off their bandh at the earliest and resolve their plights through talks.

Meanwhile, the top leaders have also appealed the agitating Tharu communities and Broad Madhesi Front to come in talks.
