Govt forms panel to probe Agni Air crash

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a five-member committee to probe the fatal accident of Agni Air's 9N-AHE 101 aircraft in Makawanpur district on Tuesday.

Aviation expert Kumar Prasad Upadhyay heads the panel that has got a mandate to submit its report within 65 days.

Other members of the probe committe includes Sharada Bhakta Raj Bhandari, Sures Acharya, Rajendra Man Shakya and Rajan Pokharel.

A small aircraft belonging to the private airliner crashed in a remote hilly village of Makwanpur this morning, killing all 14 people on board.

Though actual cause of the incident is not ascertained, adverse weather and tehnical snag in the plane, which was returning to Kathmandu after failing to land at Lukla Aiport in Solukhumbu district, are believed to be behind it.
