"Nepali Congress on Monday has strongly condemned the government's highhandedness in arresting the cadres of the opposition parties"

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress on Monday has strongly condemned the government’s highhandedness in arresting the cadres of the opposition parties including the sister wings of the Nepali Congress during the arrival of Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai at the Tribhuvan International Airport from Rio de Janeiro.

The government used its excessive force on the demonstrators while they were greeting Prime Minister Bhattarai with black flags shouting slogans against him upon his arrival at the TIA today afternoon. Prime Minister Bhattarai was returing home after attending the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Demonstrators including Central President of the Nepal Students Union Ranjit Karna, Central President of the Nepal Peasants Association and Central Member of Nepal Tarun Dal Saraswati Shah have been arrested on the occasion.

Nepali Congress has lambasted the government, accusing it of intervening in the peaceful demonstration, dubbing this act as unconstitutional, violation of fundamental rights of the people and the rule of law, demanding early release of the arrested cadres in a statement issued today.

Maoist is the greatest opportunists in Nepal worse than Rana, Panchayat and Shah cause they did not take money and peace from Nepali they played around 15-16 thousand innocent blood and finally dissolved CA even though they are in country admin control chair! The NC is the last organization in Nepal that should be complaining about "highhandedness". This status-quo stalwart who would keep the masses of Nepali citizens poor and uneducated inperpetuity have nothing to say about the decorum that befits a PM as he returns home. And who are these youth vadre of the NC? They are the future status-quo leaders in training to become the new thugs and corrupt who the NC would leave the country to. They are the next generation who will deceive the masses! It is better for Nhattrai to show strength at this time and put the conspiring opportunists of the NC and cpn-UML on notice that their plans will NOT BE TOLERATED!
