KATHMANDU: While the agitation in the Far-west region has further intensified on the 11th consecutive day of indefinite strike demanding undivided Far-west, government has requested the agitators enforcing bandh on Monday to come in dialogue.

Owing to the pressure from the big oppositions--Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML –to take initiatives to suspend the indefinite bandh which has hit all districts in the Far-western region hard, Prime Minister has called on the Far-west Ekata Samaj and the Samyukta Lotantrik Paribesh to resolve the problems through dialogue.

For past ten days, Ekata Samaj and Paribesh have been protesting the UCPN-Maoist’s proposal to divide some parts of Kanchanpur and Kailali and include them in Tharuwan federal state.

With the markets and factories closed, production and distribution of daily essentials has come to a virtual halt in different hill districts of the Far-west. As the vehicles are also not allowed to ply on the roads, passengers have been stranded.

Earlier, political parties had called on the bandh enforcers to suspend their indefinite bandh but agitators paid no heed.
