KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has implemented regulations of the Tobacco Products Control and Regularization Act banning smoking and consumption of tobacco related products in public places.
The regulation was recently passed by a cabinet meeting. Doors are now open for taking action on those consuming tobacco related products after the issuance of the regulation.
This was informed at a press meet organised here today by the National Health Education Information and Communications Centre.
The regulation mentions procedures for the ban, and things to be mentioned in packet and wrappers, among others, and not allowing lighters and matches in public places.
Health Secretary Dr. Pravin Mishra, Director General of Department of Health Services Dr. Mingmar Sherpa and Centers' Director Badri Khadka highlighted the need of the regulation.
