DHADHING: Increasing accidents along the Prithvi highway, the gateway to the Capital for 67 districts of the nation, in the past few years, has alarmed the passengers.
A total of 147 accidents were reported in the Dhading road section in the fiscal year 2067/68, claiming 56 lives and injuring 303 persons, with 181 seriously injured.
Likewise, the road accidents in Krishnabhir have claimed 17 lives since mid-July this year. Many people who had gone missing following those accidents are yet to be found.
As per the data with the Dhading police, bus, trucks and motorbikes are seen more prone to the accidents. The traffic police accredited a number of factors including reckless and speed driving behind the frequent road accidents.
Meanwhile, stakeholders have also pointed to the narrow and dilapidated roads, and old vehicles as the main reasons behind the worrying trend of accidents along the highway in the district.
