POKHARA: Pokharelis have shut down all governmental activities today as well to press for early construction of the Pokhara International Regional Airport (PIRA).
The Regional International Airport Construction Concern Committee (RIACCC) has stopped the daily activities in government offices and its affiliated institutions by staging sit-in programmes. The service seekers faced problems due to the halt of the daily activities in the government offices.
The committee halted the daily works in the most government offices including Education, Forest, Transport, Salt Trading, Nepal Telecom, District Development Committee Regional Education Directorate and many more offices by shouting slogans at the gate.
They warned if anyone dares to run the works in the offices, the committee will padlock in their office. The committee has also requested the service seekers not to go to the office even if they have urgent work.
However, agitators have spared offices including security department, hospitals and banks. The committee has requested the locals residents of Pokhara 1, 2 and 16 to make a gathering at Taxi Chowk, locals of 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 18 to gather at Prithivi Chowk and the locals of 5, 6, 8 and 17 are to assemble at the Sahid Chowk at 9.00 am today.
The committee also staged sits-in at the Regional Administrative Office today. The relay hunger strike was launched on September 13.
