KATHMANDU: Top guns of the major political parties decided to continue the talks over the thorny issues attached to the constitution-drafting till tomorrow, and at the same time made up their mind to initiate process to go for fresh poll to elect a new Constituent Assembly(CA) if censuses is not forged by Wednesday.

“ The meeting concluded that parties will endeavor to reach to a consensus over the contentious issues of constitution by tomorrow and if they failed to strike the chord then they will take steps to go for poll,” said UCPN-M spokesperson Agni Sapkota briefing about the meeting held at the office of the Special Committee (for supervision, integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants) in Nayabaneshwor today, wherein big guns of four major political forces — UCPN-Maoist, NC, UML and the United Democratic Madhesi Front --dwelt over contentious issues of the constitution and the fate of CA: whether to reinstate it or to go for fresh poll to elect a new CA.

They have already pledged President that they would leave no stone unturned to forge consensus on the contentious issues attached to statute-drafting and if they happened to reach to an understanding, the Constituent Assembly(CA) which kicked the bucket on May 27 without issuing a new constitution can be restored. But if they failed to reach to forge consensus once again, they will start working to form an all-inclusive government to go for the fresh poll which would elect a new CA.

Parties will continue with bilateral and trilateral talks today also in a bid to resolve all the thorny issues that have placed them in bad terms since the dissolution of Constituent Assembly(CA) in May.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala was not spotted at the meeting.
