Every human being has the instinct for self-preservation in an equal measure and honed to a fine edge. In the game of survival this makes the difference between life or death. Nothing is so glorified as this drive to survive and in the process propagate a hassle-free lifestyle.
When everything is considered, the tendency is at the expense of altruism or abstract principle. This is set aside for the inner sanctum where all faculties are centered and given expression. The human entity can be likened to a highly developed organism and experiences from the base to the sublime. So, it is important to note this that bespeaks of a species moving ahead. The individual is endowed with the capability to withstand pain and predicament in order to make progress, even though this means sacrifice and a great deal of thinking. The self is preserved and promoted. In the end, this existence pure and simple leads to self fulfilment and verified through experience.
Man thrives through a trial-and-error method designed to select only the fittest. This makes selection evident to the observer of human nature, thus, weeding out the weakest link in the life cycle which propagates the self given the chance to recover itself. Much of it may sound like science fiction, but nothing is left to random hits and misses.
Men, women and children have the instinct to improve and nurture their selves in a way not thought of before. As it is, they hold upon this happenstance for the good of one and all. When a strategy fails another is opted until a certain point is reached. At this juncture the missing clues fall into place and makes sense. This paints a scenario of the self that preserves itself. But this is an irreversible process and every bit of information is made use of to expand and enrich the being. Perhaps it is due to the enhancement that the specie survives even in a hostile environment, and goes onto produce similar characteristics in defiance of the existing order.
Moreover, where there is a failed attempt to reconcile oneself, other alternatives are considered. The instinct takes over to justify the action even it its pre-emptive and comes at a cost. Thus, this is a wake-up call and a rush of adrenalin sustains the self. There is no place here for the diehards, cynics and scoffers who do not recognize and realize the importance of an instinct at work. They only have a glimpse of themselves as a falsehood in a mirror image. And this will only discredit the hardy souls in their instinctive search for the meaning of life. In this context, it would be possible to gain an insight into what makes one tick if there is an instinct vying for attention.
