KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction organised a procession around the slogan- Political Stability for Lasting Peace—on Friday morning, to celebrate the International Peace Day.

The procession began from the Shanti Batika and concluded at Babarmahal after passing through Bagbazaar, Putalisadak and Amnamnagar.

The Nepal Police band played music in the procession. Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Ministry officials, various working in promoting peace and security personnel participated in the procession.

The participants carried banners and placards with slogans like 'Peace for Progress and Development' and 'We Nepalis are Worshippers of Peace' written on them.

Addressing the concluding programme, Minister Rayamajhi stressed that peace and stability were a must for economic prosperity. He said the people should be made aware on the need of establishing peace in the country.

The United Nations has been marking September 21 every year as the International Peace Day. It has been five years since the Day started to be marked in the country.
