PHIDIM: Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong today said peace and constitution-drafting processes cannot be completed unless former Maoist combatants are integrated and YCL’s paramilitary structure is dismantled.
Speaking at a programme organised by the local peace committee in Panchthar district headquarters Phidim, Minister Chemjong asked the political parties to build a consensus and bring the former fighters under the command and control of the Special Committee before UNMIN’s departure.
He urged the peace panel to help the government heal the wounds of conflict victims.
Minister Chemjong informed that government was making preparations to compensate those, who were injured during the decade-long insurgency, this year.
At the programme, conflict victims had submitted a memorandum to Minister Chemjong.
