KATHMANDU: Nai Publication has announced to present the Nai Award-2012 to two international personalities working in different sectors.
The Nai Derukh International Award carrying a purse of Rs. 300,000 will be conferred on Anthropologist of the United States (US), Prof. Dr. Ted Ricardo.
The decision is made to recognise the contribution of Prof. Dr. Ricardo of the US-based Colombia University to elevate Nepal's image at international arena through undertaking research on the subjects related to Nepali language, culture, history and archeology for over half century.
The award is to be presented to foreign national every year.
Likewise, the Nai Derunikh International Award bagging cash prize of Rs. 200,000 is to be provided to Prof. Lil Bahadur Chhetri of Asam, India.
The award is to be given away to prominent literary figure Chhetri for his creative and consistent contribution to various genres of Nepali literature for more than six decades particularly as a novelist to depict the reality of contemporary Nepali society through novels such as 'Basain' and 'Bramhaputrako Cheuchhau'.
The award is conferred on a foreign national of Nepali origin every year.
The meeting of decisive committee presided over by Publication Chairperson Indira Prasain made these decisions.
The awards will be presented amid a function to take place in Kathmandu on coming May 4, informed member-secretary of the Publication, Narendra Raj Prasain.
