LONDON: Singer Jennifer Lopez has been blasted for using a body double in a TV ad showing her "at home" in New York's gritty Bronx, reported British daily The Sun on Thursday.
J-Lo, 42, has used her "Jenny From the Block" image to get "street cred".
But in the ad for a Fiat 500, she was filmed in LA rather than the area where she grew up.
In the ad, J-Lo says: "This is my world. This place inspires me."
Her spokesman Mark Young said: "I don't see a problem with it."
The endorsement deal has earned J-Lo millions of dollars and hinges on the Latino star's 'street cred'.
But the singer hasn't made a public appearance in the Bronx for years.
In her 2002 hit, J-Lo sang: "Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got - I'm still, I'm still, Jenny from the block."
A Fiat spokesman said: "We took the opportunity to film wherever Ms. Lopez was working at the time to accommodate her busy schedule.
"One does not need to be in a specific location to be inspired or continue to be inspired."
