Janamorcha protests govt plan to distribute citizenship

KATHMANDU: The Janamorcha Nepal has protested the government decision of redistributing the citizenship certificates on the basis of those citizenships distributed in 2063 BS on the basis of birth.


The Home Ministry had issues directives to this end to the district administrations on February 8.


Stating that foreigners also acquired the Nepali citizenship during the distribution of citizenships in that year, the party has called for forming a high-level probe commission to investigate into the issue.


Issuing a press statement on Friday, the party has urged the government to consider the complaint that some people in the Terai region have been deprived of the citizenship certificates and to address the problems related to the citizenship certificate at the earliest.
