KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress spokesman Arjun Narsingh KC on Thursday said that his party should lead the new government to complete the peace process and constitution-drafting.
"The previous governments led by UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML could not complete both the crucial tasks. Therefore, a new government should be formed under our party's leadership through agreement among the three major parties," he said at an interaction today.
The Maoists should return the seized property and transform themselves into a civilian party through integration and rehabilitation of their army combatants, he said.
CPN-UML leader Pradeep Gyawali said that an agreement to form a government under the Maoist leadership is possible if the main opposition party transformed itself into a civilian party by bringing its army fighters under the Special Security Plan within three weeks.
Maoist leader Post Bahadur Bogati said that his party, as the largest party in the CA, should lead the new government. He ruled out the possibility of completion of integration and rehabilitation of Maoist army combatants in three weeks.
Chairman of Rastriya Prajantra Party Pashupati Shumsher Rana said that the action plan on army integration made public by the Maoists is ambiguous and patchy.
