KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal on Friday returned the government vehicle provided to him as a part of facilities to the former prime minister.
In a statement, Khanal’s personal secretary Rambabu Adhikari said that the vehicle (with registration number Ba 6 Cha 1026) was handed over to the Office of the Prime Minister, Singhadurbar today.
He further stated that the UML chairman has not taken other facilities including staffers and residence from the state coffers.
“Our attention has been drawn towards the criticism of decision that the caretaker government made through ordinance to give continuity to the facilities of vehicle facility and security that the Nepal government had been providing to the VIPs,” the statement said in a bid to explain the reason to return the vehicle.
UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar --both of them former prime ministers-- and Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel, former Speaker, have already returned the vehicles provided to them.
