Kin of missing arrestee demand whereabouts

BARDIBAS: Family of Ajitlal Karn, a resident of Jaleswor -5 in Mahottari district has sought help from media and human rights activists to take initiative for search of Karn as police has not made him public after arresting him a month ago.

Mother of Karn, Subhadra Karn has at a press meet in Jaleswor today urged for his search as he was not made public even after a month after his arrest on May 6.

He was arrested from home when other family members were not at home, said Subhadra.

Suspicion has increased after the police created affidavit of arms and ammunition being seized by raiding the house once again on May 9 after three days of his arrest.

“Even if I went many times to the District Police Office, police officers said they had not arrested him, and this has caused great pain to the family,” she said.

Ajit, 25, was living at home after completion of his BBS studies.

However, the police have said the house was raided for search of Jitendralal Karn of Jaleswor -5 who was found to be involved in the April 30 bombing in Janakpur, Ajit was not arrested.

Ajit is younger brother of Jitendra. Police has prepared the affidavit that explosives were recovered from the house, said DSP of Mahottari Suraj KC.

Ajit was not in our search list and was not arrested, said the office.

However, the neighbors of Subhadra say they had seen some 10-15 police taking him in a van.

After three days, the police forced us to sign a paper, said a neighbour Gambhira Saha.

The police locked all the rooms of the house after Ajit's arrest and the family has been displaced. Police reliability is on the wane from the fact that they have said they did not arrest Ajit which was seen by many, said human rights activists.
