KATHMANDU: Accusing party President Sushil Koirala of violating party’s statutory provisions and breaching the culture of consensus and consultation, more than 20 Nepali Congress Central Working Committee members, including senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and his supporters, today registered a note of dissent against two decisions taken by the party yesterday.
“The party president violated his promise made one year ago and enforced the regulation in contradiction to the party statute,” said CWC member Purna Bahadur Khadka. “We have registered a note of dissent expressing serious objection to yesterday’s decisions which were taken by going against the party statute.”
The dissenting leaders were objecting to party president’s unilateral announcement of departments and its forceful implementation. “The party president used threatening language against senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and other CWC members. On top of that he did not maintain the basic political culture and forcefully announced the decisions; as a matter of fact he imposed the decisions. We object to it,” he said. The Deuba camp had expressed their objection yesterday verball, but it formally registered its note of dissent today.
