ILAM: Leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) Sujata Koirala has warned that Nepal existing as a sovereign and united state would crumble to the sea, if federal states are bequeathed with ethnic autonomy.
At an interaction programme organised by the Nepal Press Union Ilam on Thursday, Koirala however floated an opinion that federal states not exceeding six could be appropriate for Nepal owing to the geographical situatedness of Nepal.
On the possibility of transforming the incumbent government into the unity government, Koirala stated that the NC will not join the present Maoist-led government, but a new government would be formed after two months, wherein the NC would steer the helm to finalize the peace and statute.
When asked about the recent progress achieved in peace process, she said, the government should take action against those who are not returning the seized lands and assets to the rightful owners.
At the same programme, Central Member of NC, Ram Kumar Chaudhari said, ‘One Madhes, one province’ notion will not come into being.
Koirala and Chaudhary were here in connection with a two-day training of the Nepali Congress Ilam chapter.
