ILAM: Minister for Law and Justice, Brijesh Kumar Gupta has said the judiciary must be independent.
Speaking at a programme on 'Human rights and legal assistance' organised by the Ministry of Law and Justice here on Tuesday, Minister Gupta said only the independent judiciary would guarantee human rights. He however expressed worry that even the educated persons were violating human rights.
For the protection and promotion of human rights, the laws need to be followed, according to Minister Gupta.
Moreover, Minister Gupta shared that the Ministry was planning to appoint persons with legal background in the quasi judicial bodies in order to increase their efficiency.
More than a dozen legal practitioners participated in the programme where the locals had apprised the organisers of the legal problems they are facing.
