DIPAYAL: The total number of voters has shrunk in Doti district this time compared to the first CA polls of 2008. According to Doti District Election Office, the district has only 91,712 voters this year, whereas in the first CA polls in 2008, the total number of voters was 145,979.
Doti district election officer Tikaram Dhakal said the number of voters was higher in the first CA polls due to double registration. “The number dropped this time due to implementation of voters’ ID card,” Dhakal said.
People without citizenship certificates and those residing in foreign countries were excluded. Dhakal further said some people might have missed the voters’ registration process due to their negligence in making a voter’s ID card.
