BIRATNAGAR: Normal life in the six eastern districts has been severely affected due to the two-day bandh called by the Eastern Tharuwan Kochila Joint Struggle Committee.
The joint struggle committee led by CA member Santosh Tharu has enforced shutdown demanding that Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Siraha, Saptari and Udayapur be carved as a separate Tharuwan Kochila state.
Industries, factories, educational institutions and shops remained closed in the six districts due to strike. Vehicles were off the road.
Bandh enforces had descended on the roads from early morning and forced shutdowns in the districts. Eastern Regional Police Office Biratnagar said that no untoward incidents were reported during bandh.
The joint struggle committee has warned of grave consequences if the government did not declare six districts as separate Kochila state.
