Lumbini development plan seeks Rs 9 billion

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Lumbini Development Master Plan Implementation Sub-committee held on Sunday has asked for necessary budget with the government for the development of the Lumbini and implement the master plan.
The meeting has agreed to provide the necessary budget for the implementation of overall Lumbini master plan and determine the areas of priority and expedite the works for overall development of Lumbini.
Legislature-Parliament meeting held on April 16 had passed a resolution motion unanimously to make Lumbini as the international peace city by developing the birth place of Gautam Buddha.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to complete the master plan that is still incomplete and urge the government to conclude the tasks within three years by mobilising the national and international supports to develop the area as an international peace city.
The meeting has formed a 19-member committee to monitor progress on the implementation of resolution committee.
Ministry of Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly and Culture has planned to implement the master plan within three years.
The Ministry has sought for nine billion rupees for the implementation of the master plan.
