DHULIKHEL: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar today suggested the country could go for fresh election under the present government by forging consensus among the political parties.

Speaking at a press meet following the conclusion of the party central committee meeting here today, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic chief held political parties could forge consensus and go for the fresh polls under the leadership of the present coalition led by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai.

Further, attributing the demise of the Constituent Assembly to the vested interests of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Unified CPN-Maoist and Madhesi Morcha, he, however, held his party was ready to accept the leadership of any party if it was backed by consensus.

On a different note, he claimed the country’s security situation has improved a lot since he took charge of the home ministry.

Meanwhile, the central committee meeting of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Democratic concluded in Dhulikhel today, floating six conditions for the Constituent Assembly election.

As per a source, the meeting has stressed the need of a fresh CA election so as to promulgate the statute. It has also called for the necessary amendments in the constitution prior to the election.

The two-day meeting had started at a resort in Dhulikhel from Friday.
