KATHMANDU: A delegation of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is in Kathmandu to hold a series of meetings with the government officials and civil society leaders as a part of the Threshold Program.

MCC has selected Nepal as eligible to develop a Threshold Program, which works to advance the government’s efforts to create a democratic state.

The delegation led by James Parks-- who served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal from 1982 to 1984—arrived on Sunday.

During the visit, the MCC is slated to introduce Threshold Program to the government of Nepal, civil society groups, and donor organizations, and will gain background information about the economic issues in Nepal.

MCC is an independent U.S. foreign aid agency that is helping lead the fight against global poverty by forming partnerships with countries committed to good governance, economic freedom, and investments in their citizens.
