KATHMANDU: Prithvi Malla won the Hyundai Open Golf Tournament here at the Tribhuvan Army Officers Golf Club today.
The 12-year-old player, who played with the handicap of 18, accumulated 40 stableford points to win the title. DIG (retd) Niraj Pun came second with 36 points, while Col Kamaal Singh Pradhan finished third with 34 points.
Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi won the best gross award with 34 points. Maj Gen (retd) Pradeep Pratap Bam Malla claimed the senior section award with 36 points, wjhile Brig Gen Gunja Man Lama came second with 31 points.
Sushila Thapa bagged the women’s section trophy with 30 points, while Prena Malla finished second with 25 points. Maj Gen Mahesh Bikram Karki won the most birdies award with three birdies, whereas Col Iswar Kanta Mainali won the closest to the pin award on the Hole No 13 and Mandip KC bagged the longest drive award on the Hole No 18.
A total of 75 players took part in the two-day tournament sponsored by Laxmi Intercontinental, the sole distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Nepal. Maj Gen Daman Bahadur Ghale, Maj Gen Nara Bahadur Kandel, Maj Gen Narendra Bahadur Rawal, Maj Gen Mahesh Bikram Karki and Executive Director of Laxmi Intercontinental Niranjan Shrestha gave away the prizes to the winners.
