RAMECHHAP: Four people along with the Maoist former fighter were arrested yesterday with weapons in connection with robbery from Ramechhap’s Sanghutar Baazar, police said.

Former fighter Tulasi Nepal (21) of Okhaldhunga, Ragani, Durga Sunuwar (17), Shuva Raj Sunuwar (22) of Saipu and Tilak Sunuwar (21) of Mahadevdanda, Sindhuli were arrested for breaking into the house of a local trader in Saipu VDC on Friday night.

According to the District Police Office Ramechhap, all these persons are Maoist cadres.

Dhobi Area Police Office seized one 9 MM automatic Chinese pistol, one magazine, three bullets, five mobile sets, Rs 24,000, two sim cards among other things from their possession, DSP Sanjeev Sharma said. Police today made public the detainees along with the materials seized from them.

Arrestee Tulasi was disqualified by then United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) from Sindhuli-based Second Division. It has been revealed that Tulasi himself had brought the Chinese pistol. According to him, the pistol was given to him by Chitwan Shaktikhor-based Third Division’s fighter Hritik.

Hritik had opted for voluntary retirement and now has gone abroad for foreign employment. DSP Sharma said that such a pistol is only used by the Nepali Army and Armed Police.

Police suspect that the same group might have been involved in other robbery cases in the district. Investigation with them is underway, said DSP Sharma.
