Prime Minister Khanal himself will keep the Home Ministry for now

KATHMANDU: An informal meeting of Cabinet, on Saturday, agreed upon giving additional responsibilities to the four Maoist ministers.

According to Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadga Bahadur Biswokarma, Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been assigned three more ministries including Health and Population, Land Reforms and Management, and Law and Justice besides Information and Communications while Peace and Reconstruction Minister Barshaman Pun will now look after Ministry for Youths and Sports also.

Likewise, Minister for Physical Planning and Works Top Bahadur Rayamajhi will look after the Ministry for Labour and Transport Management, and while Bishwokarma the Ministry for Women, Children and Social Welfare.

The ministries were allocated to the UCPN-Maoist as per the understanding with Prime Minister Khanal’s party CPN-UML.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Khanal himself will keep the Home Ministry for now along with other ministers that are yet to get ministers.

Both the parties have been staking claim over the powerful ministry.
