Mechi as tea tourism hub

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is set to devise a strategy to develop Mechi zone as a tea tourism hub.
The Ministry is putting forward the bid to promote tea tourism through Mechi Mountainous Tourism Development Committee.
The campaign is to be initiated keeping Ilam district of Mechi zone in the centre, according to the Ministry plan.
The Ministry has already directed to chart out a master plan to develop Ilam – known to be tea district – linking with tea tourism, said Committee Executive Director Sadikshya Karki.
She said other districts including Taplejung, Panchthar and Jhapa will also be included in the campaign.
