KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Industry is preparing to bring an Industrial Entrepreneurship Act through an ordinance to address problems facing the industry sector.
The act will cover industrial policies, intellectual property protection as well as power crisis, labour shortage, and distrust between employers and labourers.
Making public the Trade Environment Studies had conducted, Secretary at the ministry, Krishna Gyawali, said the act is meant to protect the industries. A report prepared after studies that Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry had conducted in Banke, Pyuthan, Dang, Kailali and Surkhet districts states that load shedding, strikes, political instability and crunch of labour as well as raw materials has hit industries hard. The study conducted with assistance from GTZ covered some 400 industries, said Udaya Bohara, who was involved in the study. FNCCI Vice Chairwoman Bhawani Rana said such studies will be conducted in other districts as well. FNCCI Industry Committee President Dinesh Shrestha and Executive Director Hemant Dawadi said studies aimed to address problems facing industries.
