KATHMANDU: The wait will finally be over for the 18 finalists of the Miss Nepal pageant when of them will be crowned Dabur Special Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal 2010 on September 1 at a grand finale that will be telecast live on Nepal Television from 4:15 pm.

Eighty applicants from different districts had registered their names for the pageant. Fifty were shortlisted for the first round of interviews and 24 were selected after the preliminary round. On the basis of their commitment, dedication, performance, performance and capacity during the training period, 18 were picked to vye for the coveted crown.

The finalists were given grooming and confidence-building exercises by the best professionals in the country with special emphasis on women empowerment, rights of single women, Nepal Tourism Year 2011, among other topics. To help them stay focussed, they were also kept in a three-day closed camp.

The trainers for the pageant were hair stylist Kamala Shrestha, designer Rajesh Dhakhawa, who is also the dress designer for the pageant, Rajesh Ghimere, Dr Alil Das and Raj Bhai Suwal. For the first time this year, JCI’s world president Roland Quemen trained the contestants on leadership.

The contestants also visited rehabilitation centres of Bal Mandir, Old Age Home, Maiti Nepal and the Green House of Dabur Nepal, Kavre. In association with Clean Energy Bank, they were also involved in tree-planting at Chovar.

A panel of judges comprising eminent personalities will be selecting the winners. The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a Chery QQ3 Car. The first runner-up will receive Rs 35,000 and 125 CC Mahindra Scooter, while the second runner-up will get Rs 25,000.

The pageant also has a number of title awards — Dabur Vatika Miss Beautiful Hair, Fem Miss Beautiful Complexion, Dabur Red Miss Beautiful Smile, Blay Miss Photogenic, Orbit Miss Personality, Real Miss Talent, Safety Miss Walk, Hidden Treasure Miss Public Choice and Ganapati Miss Friendship.

The winners of the titles will receive Rs 10,000 each.

A special title — Hidden Treasure Public Choice — has been introduced. Viewers have to send an SMS to DSHMN followed by the number of their favourite contestant to to 3626.

The title sponsor of Miss Nepal is Dabur Special Hair Oil. The

co-sponsors are Safety Sanitary Pads and Bama Motors, while

the other supporters are Mahindra Rodeo, Nepal Airlines,

Philippines Airlines, Creative Photo Session Studio, Dreams and Idea, Orbit International and Ganapati Jewelers.
