KATHMANDU: The much awaited day is here. The journey of the beauties with brains that started on April 1 has reached its finale. The day when Nepal gets her Miss Nepal 2012 has finally arrived as Pushupati Paints Luxuria The Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal 2012 will take place on May 6 at Hotel de’l Annapurna, Durbar Marg.

The day of the judgment is here. However, it isn’t just a day where the girls walk looking pretty. It is a story of hard work of the 16 young contestants who will compete in the grand finale to win the crown that comes with the responsibility to represent Nepal in the international arena.

“You might have seen the girls performing on stage. But that is not just it, they go through training that is all about themselves — who they are, discovering their talent…,” says choreographer Rachana Gurung Sharma. “Beauty pageant is no joke for me.”

The contestants have gone through everyday training from image building to personality development to self grooming to different rounds of hurdles. They have attended classes with people from different walks of life.

And giving their best in the training for these contestants are pillars like Sharma and Girendra Man Rajbansi, one of the directors of The Hidden Treasure, to name a few.

“The training is not only for the crown. We make the contestants aware of international pageants and prepare them for it along with courage, confidence and personality development,” Sharma shares about the training that the contestants receive.

Rajbansi, have improved over

time due to education and

socio-economic changes in the country. However, he insists, “According to the then time and society, contestants of the previous years were good too.” Gurung also opines the contestants have changed with time.

On the other hand, Rajbansi believes that this years’ contestants are promising due to “the training as well as their knowledge and height which is more than normal Nepali height”.

Adding to the good news, what’s different and good this year? Miss Nepal 2012 is going to take place outdoors, is the answer. And Rajbansi feels that if it gives a good message, people can organise event outdoors which can boast of a larger audience.
