Big craters have formed at three points towards the southern portion of the airport‚ said a local Nanda Prasad Ghimire.

KHOTANG: The runway at Khanidanda airport here is at high risk of erosion in the monsoon season.

The risk is due to the blockage of one of the culverts at the airport, as a result of which flood water is gushing on the runway and causing erosion.

The culvert was blocked by sediment brought by floodwater. As a result of the blockage of the culvert, the floodwater started flowing through the runway, causing erosion. It is said that a portion of the airport towards the south is on the verge of caving in.

Big craters have formed at three points towards the southern portion of the airport, said a local Nanda Prasad Ghimire.

Meanwhile, the Diktel-Jayaramghat road has been blocked by a huge boulder that fell from the hillside in the middle of the road.
