OKHALDHUNGA: The viral fever that broke out in Okhaldhunga district a week ago is yet to come under control, sources said.
Various VDCs including Mamkha, Ratmate, Diyale, Katunje, Mulkharka, Palapu, Rangadip, Patle, Bigutar, Sanitar have fallen prey to the outbreak. Most schools in the district have remained shut after both students and teachers were affected by viral fever.
With the number of students visiting the District Health Post has increased, District Public Health Office today deployed a team to examine students at Sanitar-based Rajya Laxmi Secondary School, DPH chief Gyan Bahadur Basnet said adding that almost all students were suffering from cold and fever.
Many schools including the Patle Secondary, Lali Gurans Boarding School, Diyale Primary School Diyale and Bhimsen Primary School Katunje have been closed for the past one week following the viral fever. As many as 75 students and most teachers of the Bhimsen Primary School have been affected by the outbreak.
Teacher Sharmila Khatiwada at the Diyale Primary School said that they had to shut down the school after both teachers and students contracted the disease. Locals fear that the outbreak might take the epidemic proportion due to lack of health workers and medicine in the village.
