NA soldier gets prison term for bribery

KATHMANDU: An army special court sentenced Ganesh Khaniya a Nepal Army personnel to a year in prison with a fine of Rs. 2, 50, 000 for accepting a bribe from Kiran Ale on the pretext of getting him the job of second Lieutenant in the Nepal Army.

In press statement released on Monday by Public Relations Directorate of Nepal Army, the court had reached the verdict on Sunday August 8 after Ale filed a complaint with Nepal Army. The court found Khaniya guilty of taking Rs.2, 00, 000 from Ale in exchange for a job in the Nepal Army.

The court delivered the verdict according to sections 3 (1) and 3 (15) of the Corruption Control Act 2059. According to the verdict the culprit faces one year prison term and the fine. However due to his inability to pay the fine he will have to spend another four years in prison.

I think fine is so less. Fine should be as much as his whole property. He might be taking bribe for making prosperous life of his upcoming generation. If there will be risk of losing the property then no none will attempt to take bribes. Jay Nepal!!! Rajendra, Pokhara, Nepal
