KATHMANDU: Nepal Boxing Association (NeBA) on Monday signed a one-year sponsorship deal with Kishor Gears Pvt Ltd, sole distributor of Land Rover automobiles in Nepal. NBA president Rajiv Shrestha and Land Rover representative and NeBA Vice-president Sanjeev Tuladhar signed the Memorandum of Understanding. As per the agreement, the Land Rover distributor will provide NBA Rs 300,000 to conduct eight national tournaments. NBA has already included eight national tournaments in its new calendar after Rajiv-led committee was elected on February 18. Novice, an amateur boxing championship beginning here from Wednesday, will be the first tournament of the NBA programme.

Bipasana win

KATHMANDU: Bipasana International and Nepal Airlines won their respective matches of the Magic Moments Corporate Futsal Tournament on Monday. Bipasana beat Malpi 8-4, while Nepal Airlines earned a walkover win from Republic Media. Likewise, Nepal Airlines and Janata Bank, Ncell and Civil Bank played 3-3 draws, while a match between Butwal Power Company and Malpi ended in a 4-4 stalemate. Also, Grand Bank were held to a 1-1 draw by Nepal Investment Bank Limited.

School basketball

KATHMANDU: Valley Public School is organising the seventh Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Championships here from Tuesday. In all, 64 teams — 40 in boys’ and 24 in girls’ sections — are participating in the tournament. Teams have been divided into eight groups each in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. The final is slated for September 4. —
