NC's nay to Bhattarai-led unity govt

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has decided not to accept Dr. Baburam Bhattarai as a consensus prime minister for the unity government.
A meeting of the party office bearers and central members held at NC President Sushil Koirala's residence in Maharajgunj on Monday also condemned the statement by the UCPN-Maoist that an environment has been created for the Bhattarai-led consensus government.
“There is no possibility of formation of the Bhattarai-led election government,” said NC leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat emerging from the meeting.
NC Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel stressed on the need for the fresh polls to end the present political stalemate.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal met Koirala, seeking his favour for morphing the incumbent Maoist-led government into a national consensus government.
