KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) district presidents who were available in the capital thronged the residence of party president Sushil Koirala on Thursday to advise the latter on various contentious issues riveting the party.
Having wrapped up district presidents' second national conclave, district presidents were at Koirala’s residence to voice their concerns, which they probably couldn’t during the national gathering in Barhabise, to Koirala.
The gathering had concluded two days back by issuing a 14-point declaration paper.
“We demanded that NC take the leadership for the resolution of the present political crisis and to move ahead by eliminating weaknesses surfaced in the party to make the organization stronger. We also urged Koirala for the effective implementation of the declaration approved by the Gathering,” said Nuwakot district president Jagadish Narsingh KC.
During the talks with party president in Maharajgunj, they also reiterated that the Constituent Assembly reinstatement should not be priority issues of the party rather opt for a parliamentary poll to promulgate the constitution.
Over the issues of federalism, district presidents of Madhesi and Janajati background urged their party president once again to make the official stance of the party clear on those issues.
KC said, after listening to their concerns, Koirala directed them to expand organization in the villages in unison.
They are also due to hold a meeting with the senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba in the afternoon.
While most of the district presidents have stood against the CA reinstatement, Deuba has been reiterating that CA should be reinstated at any cost.
