NC makes decisions galore‚ Badu is new spokesman

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala on Saturday appointed leader Dilendra Prasad Badu the party spokesperson and Ram Krishna Tamrakar the chief of Valley Coordination Committee, and picked up Baburam Rana as a member in the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC).

Koirala added 12 new departments in the party and appointed chiefs of all 42 departments as per the party statute. The decision regarding formation of new departments—Federal Affairs; Muslim; Tarai-Madhes; Literature, Art and Cultural; Peace, Security and Service; Kathmandu Contact Committee Coordination; Tourism; Science and Technology; Forests and Environment; Irrigation and Infrastructure Development; Financial Organisation Coordination, Construction Entrepreneurs Coordination—will have to be endorsed by the CWC.

In a bid to consolidate the party, the party president also appointed 14 CWC members as the coordinators to the Zonal Coordination Committees the party statute.

Moreover, the party formed central steering committees to convene its sister wings’ general convention, and support and direct the respective ad hoc committees.

The steering committee formed under General Secretary Prakash Man Singh will look after the conclave of Nepal Students Union, Nepal Adivasi Janajati Sangh, Nepal Kisan Sangh and Nepal Rastriya Magar Sangh, while the one headed by General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula will oversee the conclave of Nepal Tarun Dal, Nepal Mahila Sangh and Nepal Prajatantra Senani Sangh, acccording to a statement issued by the party’s central office secretary Basanta Gautam,
