KATHMANDU: Though it was not an official meeting. All the top guns of the Nepali Congress (NC) were present at the residence of Sushil Koirala on Wednesday morning to come to a decision that the party is not going to support the Cabinet decision to extend the Constituent Assembly(CA) tenure.

NC leaders made up their mind to press for timely statute, which means within five days.

Top leaders of the NC trod on party’s president line and decided to respect the Supreme Court(SC) verdict and upheld independence of the judiciary.

"Any move to extend the CA tenure is tantamount to disrespecting the Supreme Court verdict,” NC President Koirala told journalists at his residence.

According to the SC’s verdict, the fourth extension of CA which expires on May 27 would be the last one.

However, today’s meet decided to call the Central Committee (CC) meeting to decide on whether NC should call back its man from the incumbent government or not .

The CC meet is scheduled after 4 pm today, said NC leader Arjun Narsing KC.

NC has sent two members in the Cabinet led by Krishna Sitaula as Deputy PM. What comes as a shock to NC leaders is that Sitaula himself had signed the bill registered by government to extend the CA’s tenure.
