RUKUM: General Secretary of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) Ang Kaji Sherpa today warned that the federation would torch the new constitution within a second after its promulgation if the rights of indigenous nationalities were not ensured in the upcoming statue.
Speaking at a press meet today, Sherpa, who recently participated in a NEFIN district convention, said they would fling the new constitution in the street and torch it if the new constitution failed to guarantee the rights of indigenous people with ethnicity-based federal states.
Sherpa urged all indigenous people to get ready for a fight if the constitution failed to safeguard their rights.
He said those who are against federalism are their enemies. “We cannot accept the new constitution without ethnic identity under any condition,” Sherpa added.
The Federation has been demanding 14 ethnicity-based federal states.
