Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai had inquired about the overall situation of law and order with chiefs of security bodies.

KATHMANDU: Discussion on security condition in the country including the capital was held at a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) after Justice of the Supreme Court, Rana Bahadur Bam was shot dead in broad daylight on Thursday.


It is learnt that the meeting of the Committee held today at the office of the Prime Minister discussed on how to manage security to VIPs.


During the meeting, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai had inquired about the overall situation of law and order with chiefs of security bodies.


After strong criticism from all sides saying a person like Justice was insecure in the capital where there is enough security arrangement, the Prime Minister had on Thursday said at the premises of Norvic Hospital that he would assess the security situation by calling a meeting of the NSC.


It is known that the Prime Minister in today's meeting of the Committee expressed concern with high officials of the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and National Investigation Department asking why the security was weak.


In the meeting, he also directed for immediate improvement in security arrangement, to change the security strategy if necessary and to carry out works that give reliable feeling of security to people.


Nothing more has been known as nobody wanted to speak about the meeting. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar was also present in the meeting.
