BHAKTAPUR; Narayan Academy cruised to the semi-finals of the third Chief of the Army Staff Inter-school Running Cricket Tournament which resumed here at the Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya (BSAM) grounds today.


Ram Krishna Jaishwal struck a half century as Narayan Academy beat Princeton School by 38 runs to record their third consecutive win in Group ‘C’ which ensured their place in the semi-finals. Electing to bat first, Narayan scored 113-5 in 20 overs and dismissed Princeton for 95 runs in 19.5 overs. Ram Krishna made a fluent 56 from 59 deliveries with six hits to the fence. Purushottam Jha also contributed 48-ball 31 for Narayan. Anish Neupane, Kapil Gurung and Manish Singh claimed one wicket apiece for Princeton.

In reply, Raj Kumar Rai top scored for Princeton with 36 from 34 balls. Kapil Gurung was the next best contributor with 13 runs for Princeton. Man-of-the-match Sameer KC claimed 4-15 while Dilip Chhetri took 2-21 and Jeevan Lamshal 1-14 for Narayan Academy.

In Group ‘A’ match, Mount Glory, Chakrapath kept their semi-finals hopes alive after defeating Greenland Children Academy (GCA) by 35 runs. Hosts BSAM and Mount Glory have equal four points but the former have played a game less. GCA are out of contention after losing second successive game but Tri Jyoti, who lost their first match, can match join Mount Glory and BSAM if they win their remaining two matches. If that happens, there will be a three-way tie and the two teams with better net run-rate will advance to the semi-finals.

Batting first, Mount Glory were all out for 115 runs in 18.4 overs but defended the total by restricting GCA for 80 runs in 20 overs. Man-of-the-match Bikram Maharjan scored a half century while Nirdesh Shrestha (18) and Rajesh Poudel (16) also chipped in valuable runs to the Mount Glory total. Bikram struck four boundaries in his 46-ball 50. Sangeet Poudel (3-18) and Bijay Karki (3-21) were the pick of the GCA bowlers. Amit Gurung also took 2-13.

Puran Bista top scored with 19 runs in GCA run chase while Manish Thapa chipped in 17. Rajesh Poudel (2-9), Saurav Khatiwada (2-12) and Milan Thapa (2-13) grabbed two wickets apiece for Mount Glory.
