KATHMANDU: Nepal’s national team skipper Paras Khadka today was signed as the brand ambassador of SM — a leading cricket gears producers.

Paras and RNB Business Pvt Ltd — authorised distributors of SM which is an Indian company — chairman Raj Shrestha signed the contract letter during a programme here at the Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Headquarters in Halchowk. The RNB will provide Paras with two sets of cricket kits worth Rs 100,000, while the national team skipper will promote the brand.

Paras, who is leaving to play professional cricket in Canada with Ontario Cricket Academy and Club, said he was glad to be named as a brand ambassador. “I think this is the second time any brand has appointed cricketers as their envoys. I think we need more companies doing this job,” said Paras, also the skipper of Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club.

Raj, a skipper of the former U-15 national team where Paras was a player, gave the simplest of answers regarding the brand’s association with Paras. “Paras has been providing more glamour to the game and he has a huge media following too, so we decided to sign him,” said Raj.

APF, meanwhile, also gave farewell to Paras for his Canada tour. AIG of the APF Rishab Dev Bhattarai hoped Paras’ tour will bring fruit to Nepali cricket. “I wish Paras all the best for his tour. We expect that everything Paras learns in Canada would work a big asset for the national team,” he said.

Paras will spend the next four months in Canada playing the first division league with the OCA after the club invited the Nepali cricketer for this season.
