LALITPUR: Experts have pointed out the need of bringing Museum Act in view of the increasing trend of setting up museums without any infrastructure and related knowledge.

Speaking in a programme organized by the Patan Museum in the context of the World Tourism Day on Friday, the speakers stressed the need for such an Act for regulating the museums. The World Tourism Day is being celebrated on September 27.

Executive Director of Patan Museum, Devendra Nath Tiwari urged the people not to take the museum as a place for keeping only useless articles as it is a place for preserving the valuable archaeological articles.

Former Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Jala Krishna Shrestha said it is necessary to bring the Museum Act as the museums are being established as per the Registration of Organizations Act, 2034 BS.

The Patan Museum organized the programme to familiarize about 100 students studying culture at the Master level and Proficiency Certificate level in Tribhuvan University about the museum.

Some 300 visitors including foreigners come to the Patan Museum daily.
