KATHMANDU: Nepali trio Niraj Karki, Hareram Khadka and Mingma Sherpa secured the semi-final spots in the Lead Climbing competition played under the Sports Climbing during the third Beach Games held in Hiayang, China on Tuesday. Niraj finished 19th, Hareram ended up 23rd and Mingma 25th positions to advance to the semi-finals. The semi-finals and final is scheduled for Wednesday.
ANSA inaugurated
KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda Dahal formally inaugurated the newly formed All Nepal Sports Association (ANSA) here on Tuesday. Dahal also handed over the certificates to the members of the new committee. Arjun Bahadur KC is the president of the 38-member ANSA, registered as the 120th association at the National Sports Council. The 16th Asian Games bronze medallist boxer Deepak Maharjan was also felicitated on the occasion. Also feted on the occasion with the lifetime achievement award was the veteran sports journalist Shyam Chitrakar.
Bravo returns home
LONDON: West Indies left-hander Darren Bravo flew home to Trinidad on Monday after he was ruled out of the remainder of his team’s tour of England through injury. A statement from the West Indies Cricket Board said Bravo injured his right hip during the first one-day international against England on Saturday.
